Ruby Rose Cast As Batwoman For CW TV Series

Ruby Rose

Ruby Rose has officially landed the role of Batwoman!

Orange is the new black actress Ruby Rose has landed the role of Batman cousin, Batwoman.

The series has been set to premiere early 2019 with Caroline Dries (The Vampire Diaries) attached to write and executive produce the show with the help of Greg Berlanti.

The CW had stated that they were searching for an LGBT actress to play the openly gay superhero, and Rose — who identifies as gender fluid — had actually been a big fan-favorite pick for the role.

The tagline for the show reads:

“The series revolves around Kate Kane, who, armed with a passion for social justice and flair for speaking her mind, soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence. But don’t call her a hero yet: in a city desperate for a savior, Kate must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham’s symbol of hope.”

Batwoman will first make her appearance in the 3-way arrowverse crossover later this year.
