EDITORIAL: Does The Flash Season 5 Have Too Much Main Regulars?

The Flash season 5 seems to be shaping up to be a better season than the last previous seasons.

When news broke that Danielle Nicolet had become a series regular on the show, a big question was raised WHY?

The show-runner again announced that Hartley Sawyer‘s Ralph would also be returning as a series regular. Our response was definitely mixed.

They did not stop there as they have announced that Jessica Parker  Kennedy who was recurring as Nora Allen-West would also join the show when it returns for its fifth season as a series regular.

Looking at all this announcements, we deduce that the 5th season will have nine (9) main cast when it returns which is one character more than CW’s assemble hit series Legends of Tomorrow.

The Flash

The big question is can the writers handle these characters and not take away the titular lead character Barry Allen (The Flash) screen-time. Will they be able to write around this big cast considering how they handled both season 3 and season 4. Fans alike have complained of the low quality and unnecessary drama the show has been portraying. Iris West character was bashed last season due to her character’s poor writing. Even Barry Allen suffered from poor writing decisions. We will like to see how the writers will be able to handle all this new additions to the cast.

The Flash cast for season 5 includes Grant Gustin (MAIN), Candice Patton (MAIN), Danielle Panabaker (MAIN), Carlos Valdes (MAIN), Tom Cavanagh (MAIN), Jesse Martin (MAIN), Jessica Parker Kennedy (MAIN), Hartley Sawyer (MAIN), Danielle Nicolet (MAIN).

No much plot details has been released for the fifth season. Although Cicada is being eyed for the main villain of the season. Rumor has it that both Matt Letscher and Tom Cavanagh will return to play Reverse Flash/Eobard Thawne.

The Flash airs on Tuesdays on the CW.
